Reporting a bug? Say which watch, which iPhone, and the versions of Wear OS and iOS. You can also turn on the diagnostic log in the app’s settings, reproduce the problem, then export the log and attach it. The log never includes notification text, contacts or health values.
Frequently asked questions
Which watches will Crossband work with?
Wear OS watches. We build and test on the Pixel Watch 4 first. OnePlus and OPPO watches aren’t supported yet: they work differently in the background, and we haven’t been able to test them.
Do I still need an Android phone?
Only for the first setup. Pixel and Galaxy watches have to be set up with an Android phone. After that you pair the watch with your iPhone through Crossband and can put the Android phone away.
Can I reply to messages from my watch?
Not to iMessage or SMS. iOS doesn’t let any third-party watch send replies, so no app can offer it. You can read every notification and use the actions it offers, such as dismiss.
Why is a long message cut short on my watch?
Your iPhone sends a watch only about the first 256 characters of a notification’s text. The limit is in iOS, not in Crossband. To read the rest, open the notification on your iPhone.
Does the iPhone app have to stay open?
No. Notifications, calls, media control and time sync use Bluetooth services built into iOS, so they keep working when the Crossband app is closed. Health sync uses the app, which iOS wakes in the background unless you’ve force-quit it. If you have, health data waits on the watch until you next open the app.
What health data does Crossband sync?
Heart rate, steps, distance and workouts, from your watch to Apple Health. You choose which types to allow in iOS. Data recorded while your phone is out of range is sent when you’re back in range.
Does my data go through your servers?
No. For a Wear OS watch and an iPhone, the two talk to each other over Bluetooth and there is no Crossband server. See the privacy policy for the details.
How much does it cost?
Crossband is free for 14 days, with everything unlocked and no ads. The trial starts when your watch first connects. To keep using it after that, it’s a one-time $4.99 (£3.99) purchase. There is no subscription, and one purchase covers both your watch and your iPhone. If you don’t buy it, the apps stop connecting your watch and iPhone, and tell you why.
What about an Apple Watch with an Android phone?
It’s planned after the Wear OS and iPhone version. It needs a small relay service to work, so it will be priced separately. Join the waitlist and choose that option to hear when it’s ready.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases go through the App Store or Google Play, so refunds do too. Ask the store you bought from.
